Chania Town
If we start talking about the town of Chania and its history we will never stop. The city is located 15km away from Vlamis Villas – about a 25 minute drive. We could say that the old town of Chania is like a museum itself. Crete, due to its strategic location in the Eastern Mediterannean, became the crossroads of important civiliations who wanted to expand their territories. Mainly, the Minoans, the Venetians, the Ottomans and the Egyptians, have left their impression in the old city’s architecture.
All these monuments, from different cultures and time periods coexist harmonically, showing the turbulent history of Chania. A walking tour in the old city will take you back hundreds of years, and give you the chance to listen to stories about rullers and ordinary people who walked along the alleyways which we are also walking on today. In order to have a well-rounded picture and understanding of the city, it would be good to have a guide with you. The tour begins in front of the Market (Agora) and continues throughout the old town for about 2 and a half to 3 hours. Contact us and book your tour now!
