Villa Penelope with private swimming pool and astonishing sea view
If you have ever dreamt about a villa holiday in blissful
seclusion where you can lose all sense of time, then this unique
property will prove ideal, enjoying one of the most enviable
positions you are ever likely to find in Crete. Perched on a
hilltop and on the edge of the sea, the views are stupendous and
its immaculate interior match its magnificent location.
This property is owned by the Vlamis family, and numerous guests
who stayed in their other property nearby during this past summer
called us in praise for the manner in which they were looked after
by this friendly and caring couple. They are very proud of their
villa built to provide elegance and comfort, and by their
unobtrusive presence you can be assured of similar
hospitality.
The villa has two floors, each with its own private entrance into
a three bedroom apartment. For all intents and purposes the two
units are entirely separate and private and in our view it is also
ideally suited to a larger group who may wish to rent the whole
property exclusively.
The swimming pool is situated in the rocks to one side and is
accessed by a common path from the house. Whether you are lounging
on the terraces around the pool or relaxing on the spacious private
balconies, the views are fabulous and the silence broken only by
the waves against the rocky shoreline below.
The standard of the interiors is high, each apartment consists of
two bathrooms one with shower, and the other with a Jacuzzi bath,
three good size bedrooms, one double and two twins, some bedrooms
have a balcony, a spacious sitting/dining room with a fully
equipped kitchen in a section off the sitting area.
The sitting room which has a fireplace, is tastefully furnished
with comfortable sofas and chairs, a wide glazed window with two
doors leads to a huge balcony with views that will take your breath
away. Each apartment has the added convenience of a dishwasher, and
a washing machine is provided in the larger of the two
bathrooms.
With a constant breeze for which Crete is well known, the villa
never feels stuffy and yet air-conditioning is provided in every
room. The approach to the house is via a long track and ample
parking space has been provided to one side of the property. The
village of Stavros with its handful of tavernas and a couple of
mini-markets is two kilometres and Chania town is a twenty minute
drive away but with a car included many dining and shopping options
are open to you. The delightful small horseshoe bay at Stavros with
its soft white sand was recently described in 'The Times' as one of
the finest family beaches in the Mediterranean.
